If you want to experience Yamuna Pushkaralu in its purest form, this route takes you all the way to Yamunotri, where the river actually begins. It’s very different from Mathura or Haridwar. Here, the journey is slower, the air is cooler, and the experience depends more on your patience and timing than on how many places you cover.
From real travel experience, this trip is not about rushing. Roads in the hills take time, weather can change quickly, and the final stretch to Yamunotri involves a trek. So the plan below is kept simple and realistic. You start easy in Haridwar, move gradually into the hills, complete your snan and darshan properly, and then return without stress.
Details are subject to availability & seasonal adjustments
Yamunotri is the starting place for the holy river Yamuna and is a destination for visiting Pushkaralu every 4 days because of the spiritual significance of all the places visited during this pilgrimage.
Before going to the hills on the second day, you will first go to Haridwar to participate in Ganga Aarti and the Brahma Kund.
The trip will not hurry up the climb into the mountains. You will first go to Dehradun and Mussoorie and then continue the climb into Yamuna with a reasonable amount of time for each leg of the trip.
You should expect to find the Yamuna Pushkaralu (the ritual bathing) at the Yamunotri temple, which is the start of Yamuna in the Himalayas, the highlight of the trip, along with doing darshan of Divya Shila and the Sun God kund (traditional way of cooking prasadam).
You will be provided with the choice to trek to the temple on foot, horseback or by palki to enable people of all ages to participate in the yatra.
In summary, the itinerary for each day has taken into consideration the actual time to travel each leg of the yatra, the amount of rest you will need and your safety while participating in this high-altitude yatra.
This yatra is for devotees who would like to have a personal, spiritual experience participating in the true origins of the holy river Yamuna rather than simply visiting the Yamunotri temple for a ritualistic experience.

Clear answers to common questions about this tour package, so you can plan your Mathura–Vrindavan yatra with confidence.
Yamunotri is the origin of the Yamuna River, so the experience here feels more direct and traditional compared to cities like Mathura or Haridwar. Many pilgrims believe that taking a holy dip at the source carries deeper spiritual value.
Yes, this journey requires moderate physical effort because of mountain travel and a 6 km trek (one way) from Janki Chatti. However, options like horse and palki are available for those who cannot walk.
Early morning is the best time, ideally between 5:30 AM and 7:00 AM. This helps avoid crowds, reduces exposure to strong sunlight, and makes the trek more comfortable.
The Yamuna water near the temple is very cold as it comes from glacier-fed sources. Pilgrims usually take a quick dip or sprinkle water instead of staying in for long.
Surya Kund is a natural hot water spring near the Yamunotri Temple. Pilgrims cook rice or potatoes in the hot water and take it as prasadam, which is a long-followed tradition.
Yes, but with proper planning. Senior travelers should consider using horse or palki services instead of trekking. Moving slowly and taking breaks is important due to altitude and terrain.
The full visit, including travel from Barkot, trek, darshan, and return, usually takes a full day. It can take around 8–10 hours depending on pace and crowd.
Haridwar adds the experience of Ganga darshan and aarti before the Yamunotri journey. It helps pilgrims begin their yatra in a spiritual environment and adjust gradually.
Carry light woolen clothes, comfortable trekking shoes, water bottle, energy snacks, personal medicines, and extra clothes for snan. Weather in the hills can change quickly, so basic preparation is important.
This plan is based on real travel timing, mountain road conditions, trek difficulty, and weather factors. It avoids unrealistic schedules and focuses on safe movement, proper rest, and meaningful participation in the yatra.
